Mike and Beth Schulz
In this week's issue of Spectacle of Saints, we are pleased to highlight Mike and Beth Schulz, co-founders of the Mission of Mary Cooperative, a non-profit partner with PULSE. Mike and Beth were members of the Nassau Community which founded Mission of Mary Cooperative. Please take a few moments to listen to the podcast mentioned at the end of our post, and learn more not only about the founding of Mission of Mary, but also Beth and Mike's early life in Dayton and what inspired them to service.

Mission of Mary Cooperative (MMC) is a non-profit organization working in East Dayton. It was founded by a community of lay Marianists including Beth and Mike, who lived in community with other lay people in the Twin Towers neighborhood of Dayton.

Mission of Mary is the only lay Marianist founded, operated, and funded non-profit organization in the country and has been an inspiration to Greater Dayton since its founding.

The primary focus of MMC is on the issues of food insecurity and economic social justice, especially the issues of healthy food affordability and access. The work done at MMC aims to provide tangible benefits for the people the East Dayton community as well as the vacant and forgotten land of the neighborhood.

Numerous programs at Mission of Mary occur throughout the year to grow and distribute nutritious food as well as educating its neighbors about healthy and sustainable lifestyles.

Mission of Mary Cooperative is concluding its second year as a PULSE Partner. Please take a few moments to listen to this podcast, "Following Mary's Yes in the Inner City," an interview with Mike and Beth Schultz: Sharing Our Marianist Stories. Listen to how a simple idea and the "yes" inspired by our Mother Mary became a beacon of help and hope for a city.
